Bulb Model Esophageal Intubation Detector (EID)

Category:

Description

The Bulb Model Esophageal Intubation Detector (EID) is a disposable device to verify proper endotracheal tube placement that utilizes the anatomical differences between the trachea and esophagus. Due to the fact that the trachea has cartilaginous structures making it a rigid structure when vacuum is applied by depressing the EID will refill easily if the ET tube is in the trachea. If the ET tube is in the esophagus (a much softer structure) when it is depressed the EID will not retract due to the fact that the esophagus has collapsed around the ET tube.
