Description

The SAM Chest Seal is a self-adherent occlusive dressing designed for treating open chest wounds. The hydrogel adhesive is strong enough to adhere to skin in the presence of blood, hair, sweat, sand or water. It also has the ability to reseal, making it ideal for venting. The vacuum-sealed packaging has tear notches at each end, but can also be peeled apart to provide sterile barriers for exit wounds.

The SAM Chest Seal is also available in a valve version. This dual-purpose version features a one-way valve that is shielded by a removable domed cap. With the cap in place, the dressing functions as an occlusive chest seal. When the cap is removed, the dressing functions as a valve chest seal with one-way flow. The one-way valve allows low resistance flow of air out of the chest cavity while preventing ingress. The design reduces internal obstruction from blood clots or soft tissue.
