BioStat LLC Celox Z-Fold Gauze combines the ground breaking Celox agent with a fabric dressing to control life threatening blood loss directly at the source of bleeding. Celox Z-Fold Gauze is the only fabric dressing available coated with the Celox hemostatic agent. The flexible gauze allows for easy and precise placement for wound treatment.

Celox is a high performance chitosan-derived hemostatic designed to stop lethal bleeding fast. It is easy to use, extremely effective (clots blood in 30 seconds), and safe. It is FDA 510k approved and is a CE Marked Class III Medical Device.

When placed directly into a bleeding wound and subjected to pressure Celox absorbs blood and forms an adhesive gel that seals the wound to stop the flow of blood. Celox does not set off the normal clotting cascade. Celox also does not set off a blood clotting response which would lead to clots being formed at a distance to the product.

Celox does not generate heat and will not burn the casualty or care giver. Celox works independently of the body’s normal clotting processes and has been proven to work in hypothermic conditions and in the presence of common anticoagulants such as Coumadin and Heparin.

Celox is made of chitosan, a compound derived from shrimp exoskeleton (shells). Chitosan has proven antimicrobial properties and is not a procoagulant. Chitosan is broken down and absorbed through normal metabolic pathways resolving to a polysaccharide in the body, basic sugars, glucosamine and N-acetylglucosamine 5. It has an extensive history of use in vascular closure and in human cardiac surgery. Celox has a three year history of use in emergency, military, and retail first aid with no reported incidents.
